Canadian Urban Forest Network
An advocacy group whose mission is to increase awareness of the urgent issues facing Canada’ s urban forests and to stimulate action to address those issues. UFORA is a member.
Carolinian Canada Coalition
Carolinian Canada is a non-profit coalition of over 40 government and non-government conservation groups and many individuals working to conserve the ecological diversity of Canada’s most threatened natural region.
Forest Gene Conservation Association
The FGCA promotes the importance of the genetic resources of the forests of south central Ontario with emphasis on the conservation of genetic diversity of native tree and shrub species. UFORA is a member.
Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition
An alliance of organisations that share a common vision for a healthy, green Ontario where the economic, social, environmental and health benefits of green infrastructure are fully realised.
International Society of Arboriculture – Ontario Chapter
ISAO strives to enhance and promote the care and benefit of trees for present and future generations in Ontario through education, research and awareness.
Landscape Ontario
A vibrant association representing over 2000 horticultural professionals, including landscape designers, arborists and nursery growers. UFORA is a member.
Local Enhancement & Appreciation of Forests (LEAF)
LEAF champions the urban forest by raising public awareness, fostering a sense of ownership, engage diverse communities, and providing educational tools and resources to facilitate urban forest stewardship.
Society for Ecological Restoration – Ontario
SER Ontario is part of an international organisation committed to the ecologically sensitive repair and management of ecosystems. UFORA is a member.
Tree Canada Foundation
Tree Canada provides education, technical assistance, resources and financial support through working partnerships to encourage Canadians to plant and care for trees.
Tree Care Canada
A blog written by Brad Gurr, an I.S.A. Certified Arborist and Plant Health Care Specialist; Tree Care Canada provides the most up-to-date information on the care and preservation of trees.
Tallgrass Ontario

Ontario Invasive Plant Council
The OIPC is a non-profit, multi-agency organisation founded by a group of individuals and organisational representatives who saw the need for a coordinated provincial response to the growing threat of invasive plants. UFORA is a member.
North American Native Plant Society
The NANPS is dedicated to the study, conservation, cultivation and restoration of native plants.
Ontario Urban Forest Council
A non-profit volunteer organisation dedicated to the health of Ontario’s urban forests. UFORA is a member.
Community Tree Planting Resources

Many organisations and programs are designed to give people tips to help them restore their region’s natural ecology.
In some instances, these initiatives offer direct financial incentives for urban planting and similar activities – often in the form of funding grants.
UFORA has worked as a facilitation partner with many of these groups in the past. If you’re a new group looking to restore natural areas in your region, get in touch with us and we’ll add you to the list. Or better yet, perhaps work with you in the future!

Forests Ontario
